Life Inside the Walls of SMAN 3 Bandung

Talitha Nazneen N (XII-5)

Introduction

Stepping into the historic halls of SMAN 3 Bandung always gives me a unique sense of pride and responsibility. The iconic building is not just a school; it is a monument of education that has witnessed generations of leaders grow. Walking through the crowded hallways, I often feel inspired by the rich history surrounding me every day. This prestigious environment pushes me to excel not only academically but also in character development. Being a student here feels like being part of an exclusive yet supportive community.

Activities and Culture

SMAN 3 Bandung is well-known for its vibrant student life, offering a wide range of extracurricular activities and organizations like OSIS and PK. When I was in the tenth grade, I joined an extracurricular group called Trilogi to explore my interests, though I decided not to continue my active involvement later on. Aside from that, our school is deeply defined by the implementation of the “7S” and “KKS” culture, which I learned during the PLIST orientation program. This intense introduction made the culture of politeness and etiquette stick with me throughout my high school years, making SMAN 3 Bandung deeply recognized for its strong emphasis on “tata krama” and respectful behavior.

School’s Motto

Our school’s motto, “Knowledge is Power but Character is More,” perfectly describes the reality of our educational environment. This principle teaches us that while being intellectually smart is important, having good character is far more valuable. I have realized that many people are brilliant, but not everyone possesses the integrity and humbleness required to be a true leader. The school constantly reminds us to balance our academic achievements with strong moral values. This mindset has deeply influenced my perspective on how I should conduct myself as a student and a citizen.

Academic and Alumni

The academic pressure at SMAN 3 Bandung is undeniably intense, as we are always pushed to reach our maximum potential. Despite the heavy workload and high standards, I feel extremely grateful that I can consistently maintain my academic ranking in class. Furthermore, the sense of family here extends far beyond graduation through our strong alumni network, known as IKASMA. The alumni are very supportive and frequently provide donations or assistance to help the school grow. This lifelong connection makes me feel secure and proud to be part of such a massive and caring community.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I am profoundly happy and honored to be a student at SMAN 3 Bandung. Even though I am not the most active person in organizations, I have grown so much through the values taught here. Every day spent in this school feels like preparation for a brighter and more meaningful future. I will always carry the lessons of “sopan santun” and the spirit of “Knowledge is Power but Character is More” wherever I go. Choosing this school was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.
